What happened?

Professor Saim Memon, CEO of Sanyou London, delivered a keynote titled “Vacuum Insulation Energy Technologies for Realistically Reducing Heating or Cooling Energy Requirements in Buildings.” The keynote presented practical routes to lower building energy demand using slim, high-performance vacuum-insulation formats. Thanks were extended to the organising team at Magnus Group for an excellently managed conference. In addition, Professor Memon served as certificate signatory for presenters across the joint programme.

Why did it matter?

Space, cost and disruption are the main barriers to deep retrofit. Vacuum insulation delivers high thermal resistance at low thickness, enabling upgrades in flats, heritage properties and public buildings where traditional insulation is impractical. The approach supports operational carbon cuts, aligns with building regulations and net-zero objectives, and shortens payback through reduced heating and cooling loads.

What did the audience gain?

  • How VIW and VIP work: construction, thermal pathways and why vacuum significantly reduces heat transfer at minimal thickness.
  • Use in real buildings: strategies to cut heating and cooling demand in varied climates without sacrificing floor area.
  • Carbon and compliance: how vacuum insulation helps meet sustainability goals and regulatory performance targets.
  • Clear comparisons: side-by-side considerations versus XPS, EPS, mineral wool and polyurethane—strengths, limits and best-fit use cases.

The solutions showcased

  • Vacuum Insulated Wallpaper (VIW): ultra-thin internal wall insulation for rapid, low-disruption retrofit.
  • Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIPs): panelised formats for walls, reveals and constrained spaces; compatible with layered assemblies.

Who attended?

The conference brought together participants from the oil and gas, catalysis, chemical engineering and building technology communities, creating a valuable forum for cross-sector exchange on energy efficiency and practical delivery.
